This week’s update brings a new batch of bug fixes and improvements. Firstly, the update now allows you to turn off solar panels. Bugs fixed this week include projected antennas broadcasting, incorrect construction stage orientation for some blocks, cockpit toolbar issues, and the control hints cube being stretched. We’ve also fixed a number of crashes caused by changes to the planetary code last week.
Next week some major improvements for the ModAPI and ingame programming will be released. However, this will break scripted mods and some ingame scripts. If you're a modder or scripter, please see the guide linked below for what you'll need to do to fix your mods.
Finally, keep in mind that all the changes in today's update will only be on the weekly development branch - you will not notice these if you are playing on the default stable branch.

SCS Software The Rescale
We're very excited to make a big announcement, but first we need to give you a little backstory. Back when we were beginning research work on American Truck Simulator, just a few months after the release of Euro Truck Simulator 2, SCS Software was a team of about 20 people. We made, and kept, a commitment to actively support and expand ETS2, so the core team on the ATS project at that point was just a handful of developers. We hoped that some day the team would grow to be a modest 8-10 people large. They were facing a monumental challenge in trying to portray the continent of North America on a reasonable scale within a feasible time frame.

Fortunately American Truck Simulator started strong out of the gate, and we are now confident that its sales can sustain an even larger development team than we originally hoped for. SCS Software has since more than doubled in size, and we are in the process of hiring even more map designers and 3D artists. Looking at what we have created so far, and considering all the feedback we've gotten from our fans, we are at an intersection: we can either accept things as they are and continue building the world as is, or we can take a step back and change things before it's too late. Biome Update: Snow Extension & New Redwood Forests!

ARK v243 beings forth many changes: The Island, as it has come to be known to its inhabitants, has undergone a new makeover, with the addition of the Redwood Forest and the extension of the Snow biome!

Littered throughout the Redwood and Snow biome are new Ruins, which will later contain collectable story notes about the history of the ARK.

Take refuge among the Redwood trees with new Wood and Metal Tree Platforms! Live like a Furry Forest Creature in these massive trees! Tap into the massive redwoods to extract their sap for healthy concoctions using the new Tree Sap Taps. Reach new heights with the Retractable Rope Ladders. Extend or retract these flimsy ladders, which are good for letting allies onto your ramparts while keeping the enemy out. There is a whole new way of life to explore!

SCS Software Looking Far East
Euro Truck Simulator 2 has a lot of fans outside of Europe. More than we have expected when we released the game actually. For example on Steam we can see that 39% of revenue is coming from outside of what would be the natural target region for a Europe-focused product (Western and Eastern Europe including Russia).

Today we would like to send our warm regards to truck simulator fans in China and South Korea. We are releasing two new DLC packages on Steam: Chinese Paint Jobs Pack and South Korean Paint Jobs Pack!

Season One: Summer Cup Semi Final!

We’re excited to tell you that the date for the Semi Final match for the Season One: Summer Cup will take place on:

Sunday, July the 3rd at 11AM EST

The winning teams from the Semi Final Match will be invited to be flown out to the ARK Survival of the Fittest Season One: Summer Cup in Shanghai, China at ChinaJoy 2016 and get the chance to compete for over $40,000!

This 4-Survivor Tribe match will differ to regular matches as the time of game length will be extended to two hours, not including sudden death. We will be posting an updated ring-of-death timer soon so players will be able to practice ahead of time for the upcoming match.

We’d also like to send a congratulations to the first set of teams that were able to successfully qualify for the match, wish them luck in competing and we look forward to seeing them battle it out for a place in the finals.
